Officer Bios
Eric Deal has been a resident of the Mountain since 1998. He is married to
Monica Deal and they have three children who attend Laurel Mountain and
Canyon Vista. He has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from
Texas A&M University and has worked at several local companies as a digital
design engineer and architect. Eric has been actively involved in
improving communications at Laurel Mountain by creating and maintaining the
PTA and SEM websites and mailing lists. In any remaining spare time, Eric
enjoys cycling, hiking, and coaching baseball and soccer. My goals for the
MNA are to improve neighborhood communications, resolve existing issues
such as streetlights and maintenance issues, and promote an improved sense
of community within the neighborhood.
Dan Coops has been a Mountain resident since 2004. He is married to Amy
Ruhl and they have two boys who attend Laurel Mountain Elementary and
Canyon Vista Middle School. He has been a Cub Scout den leader for 5 years,
an LME Chess Club coach and committee founder for 3 years, and has
volunteered with Discover Engineering Week and FIRST Lego League. Dan has
been a Manager and Project Manager at IBM for 10 years, and before that was
in engineering development for 10 years with IBM and Intel. He has a
Masters degrees from Cornell in Engineering Physics and from George
Washington in Project Management, and a Bachelors from Northwestern. Dan
is a political independent, and enjoys hiking, kayaking, and snorkeling.
Vahab Haghighatian has been a resident of the Mountain since
December 1990. He is married to Yvonne Haghighatian and they have a
son, Nicholas, and a daughter, Nadia, who attended Laurel Mountain, Canyon
Vista, and Westwood High School. Nadia has recently earned a Bachelor
of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas
at Austin. She will be starting graduate school of law at Texas Tech University
in the fall of 2010. Nicholas has graduated from high school and is currently
attending college. Yvonne has earned a B.S. degree in Home Economics and
a B.S. degree in Textile and Clothing, both from the University of Texas at
Austin. She is currently the business manager for a political consulting firm in
Austin, Texas.
Vahab has a B.S. degree in Agricultural Engineering from Jondi-shapour
University in Ahwaz, Iran, and a Master of Science degree in Soil and Plant
Science from Texas A&M Kingsville University. He has over 33 years experience
in environmental engineering working for both private and public sectors. He is
currently employed as an environmental engineer by the Texas Commission on
Environmental Quality. Vahab is a licensed Professional Engineer and a licensed
Professional Geoscientist.
